Meet Dave Apgar
Dave is a 53 year member of the CHFD having held numerous positions including Fire Chief for a number of years. He was a member of the Camp Hill School Board having held the office of President for several years and also active in Boy Scout Troop 51 as an adult leader. Dave is also an active instructor for the Harrisburg Area Community College Public Safety Center in the Fire and Law Enforcement Divisions. He is also an active instructor with the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy. His previous employment includes being an administrator at the Carlisle Area School District.
WHY VOLUNTEER?
It seemed like a neat thing to do, but it is much more than that, it’s providing a valuable service to the community and learning new things. I think the thing I like the most at this point is being able to mentor the younger firefighters and keep the tradition going of an organization that has been around since 1909.
FAVORITE ACTIVITIES:
Hiking, hunting, motorcycle, adventures with my wife Carol, RV camping, teaching at HACC, and spending time with our rescue dog Mallie.
